Be Comfortable in Your Genes 2009

Monday 2/23
Mirrorless Monday- Multiple buildings across campus will have their mirrors covered in an attempt to help people value themselves from the inside out.  People will be asked to write positive affirmations on the paper as a statement of self-care. Help celebrate YOU!

America the Beautiful Documentary -

Followed by:  Q & A with treatment team staff from multiple national & local facilities-co sponsored by ISU SUB films-  7:00 p.m. – ISU Sun Room.  This documentary, filmed over a four year time period asks the question, “Is America obsessed with beauty?”  The film follows the life of a teen model, explores the cosmetic industry and leaves the audience asking themselves important questions

Mary Greeley Medical Center Auditorium- Presented by Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital Eating Disorder Institute, MN & Casa Palmera, CA; A training for area clinicians; behavioral health staff from area treatment facilities, dieticians, nurses, physicians, school counselors graduate students studying in FMT, FSHN, KIN or PSYCH; and others involved in the treatment team/Eating disorder treatment  mroling@iastate.edu

 7:30 p.m. ISU Memorial Union- “ Let’s Talk About Men’s Bodies (and Women’s Too)!” Co-Author of Making Weight, Men’s Conflict with Food, Weight, Shape & Appearance.

Wednesday 2/25
Don’t fight your genes- change your JEANS- Stop by the memorial union main hall way between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and drop off the jeans you no longer wear (or bring them with you on Tuesday night)—accept the body you have.  All jeans will be donated to charity.
 Thursday 2/26
Open house at Lied Recreation Facility- 3-5p.m.- co-sponsored by ISU Wellness, ISU Dining and the student nutrition club.  Stop by the recreation center, enjoy a free smoothie and gather vital information about your health.
 Friday 2/27
Freedom Friday- ways to experience freedom from negative body….Please let us know if you are interested in SCS staff presenting in your class on ISU campus or in your school on this date!-contact mroling@iastate.edu to see about our availability to meet your needs.
